Senator Khalwale Celebrates Daughter’s KCSE B-Grade

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale is celebrating his daughter Melissa Khamwenyi’s KCSE B- grade, which she earned in the 2025 exams released today, January 9, 2026. Melissa, who sat the tests at St Brigid’s High School in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County, scored a mean of B-minus overall. That puts her in a good spot for university admission. Her standout mark was an A-minus in English, with solid results in other subjects like Kiswahili and maths. Khalwale shared the news on social media, thanking the school staff, his family, and God for the outcome.

The senator, who’s served in various roles, including as a doctor and politician, has a big family. He often posts about their achievements to highlight the value of public education in Kenya. Back in 2022, when Melissa scored 402 in her KCPE at Kakamega Hill Junior School, he celebrated that too.

It’s become a sort of tradition. In 2024, his daughter Gift Atubukha got a B-plus in the 2023 KCSE, also from St Brigid’s, with strong grades in English, Kiswahili, and biology. Khalwale broke it down online: B in several subjects, C in physics, and A in history. He praised her hard work and the teachers.

Going further back, in 2022, twins Flavia and Stephen made headlines. Flavia got an A-minus at Alliance Girls’ High School, while Stephen got a C-plus. Khalwale shared their slips on X, then Twitter, saying it showed public schools can deliver.

Another daughter, Velma, excelled in KPSEA results recently, all exceeding expectations. And in 2021, son Kukaste scored a B-plus in KCSE. Folks online joke that Khalwale’s home in Ikolomani could double as an exam centre, given how often his family pops up in results season.

Khalwale’s posts draw mixed reactions, but mostly positive. Many Kenyans commend his hands-on parenting. One commenter on Facebook said it motivates other dads to stay involved. Others rib him gently about his large family – he has at least 17 kids from multiple wives.

But the senator brushes off the teasing, focusing on education’s role in lifting families. In Kakamega, where he represents, schools face challenges like funding delays, yet stories like Melissa’s show what’s possible.

The 2025 KCSE results came out this morning at AIC Chebisaas High School in Eldoret, announced by Education CS Julius Ogamba. Over 993,000 students took the exams last November, up from last year. KNEC cancelled scores for about 1,180 over cheating.

As my dota, Melissa Khamwenyi Khalwale, shines all

Overall performance ticked up slightly, with more A’s. For Melissa, the B-minus means she qualifies for degree programmes through KUCCPS, starting applications next month. St Brigid’s, a public girls’ school, has a track record of good results, often in the top tier for the region.

Khalwale, a UDA member and vocal supporter of President Ruto, uses these moments to push for better schools. He’s criticised fee hikes and called for more bursaries in western Kenya. In a recent speech, he said public education built his own path from a village boy to senator. Melissa’s success fits that narrative. She plans to study law or journalism, according to family shares.

Online, the story spread fast. Radio 47 posted about the “proud dad moment” with Melissa shining. Another account highlighted her B-minus, sharing a photo of her results slip. Comments poured in: “Congrats to the young lady” and “Khalwale is raising a smart bunch.” Some tied it to broader talks on exam integrity, but most kept it light.

In Kiminini, where St Brigid’s sits, locals are buzzing. The school serves kids from Trans Nzoia and nearby counties, many from modest homes. Teachers there focus on discipline and extra lessons, which paid off for Melissa. Parents in the area say it inspires their own children, especially girls aiming high.

As Kenya digests the results, stories like this humanise the numbers. Not every student tops the charts, but a B-minus opens doors. Khalwale’s openness reminds folks education is a family affair. For Melissa, it’s onto the next step. She thanked supporters in a short post, saying the journey wasn’t easy but was worth it.
