In Nairobi, Kenya, Harrison Kimeu suspected his wife of cheating after noticing odd behaviour and hearing neighbourhood rumours. Working far from home with only one day off each month, he decided to seek help from a traditional healer. “I wanted to know the truth,” Kimeu said. He visited Dr Bokko for a spell to catch a cheating lover, hoping it would give him certainty before any confrontation.
Kimeu took his day off without telling her. He aimed to surprise her and check things out. When he arrived home, he found her with another man. Shocked but composed, he avoided a fight. Instead, he told her to gather her things and leave. He even helped carry them out.
Kimeu shared his story in Swahili too: “Niliamua kuomba off bila kumjulisha. Jana nilipofika, nikampata na mwanaume.” That means he decided on the day off secretly and caught her with a man upon arriving. He added, “Mimi sikuwasuliza, na sikutaka hasira zipade. Nilimwambia aondoe kila kitu na aende.” Translating to: He didn’t argue or let anger build; he just told her to take everything and go.
This incident highlights how some Kenyans turn to traditional methods amid relationship troubles. Kimeu now focuses on moving forward, urging others to seek truth calmly.
