Marriage Drifts Into Silence and Distance, Husband Evolves

Marriage drifted into silence and distance over more than a full year, Lydia shared recently. Her once happy home became filled with tension and constant misunderstandings. At first the problems looked small, she recalls. But with time the arguments became frequent. Her husband started avoiding being at home more and more.

According to Lydia, she tried everything she could think of to save the marriage. The couple attended counselling sessions on a regular basis. They even involved close relatives in an effort to resolve the conflicts that kept coming up. They would agree to fix things during counselling, but after a few days the same problems returned, she explains. It felt frustrating for both of them.

Eventually, the situation became worse. Her husband decided to move out of the house. He said he needed space to figure things out. ‘ ‘That moment broke me because I thought my marriage had completely ended,’ Lydia says.
