From Small Village Dreams to Defying the Doubters Who Laughed

I grew up in a tiny village where everyone seemed perfectly okay with the same old routine – farming, small jobs, quiet weekends. But even as a kid, I felt this fire inside me. I daydreamed about running my own company, learning everything I possibly could (way beyond the dusty textbooks at the local school), and someday building something that could lift my whole community up with me.

Sounds inspiring, right? Except almost nobody thought so. Family gatherings turned into comedy hours at my expense. Neighbours smirked. Even a couple of teachers shook their heads and said, “Kid, know your place. Dreams like that aren’t for people like us.” Their laughter stung worse than any slap.

I started small, saving every coin, trying little side hustles, and burning the midnight oil with borrowed books. Nothing took off. One venture flopped, then another. The same people who’d mocked me now had fresh material. “Told you so” became their favourite phrase. Friends started pulling away, whispering that I was getting “too big for my boots”.

There were nights I sat on the roof staring at the stars, wondering if they were right – if I was just a fool chasing shadows. The weight of all that doubt nearly crushed me.
