Chino Kidd and Maryem Yahya’s Latest Dance Video Goes Viral

Tanzanian artist Chino Kidd, along with his wife Maryem Yahya alias Maria, enthralled fans with their latest dance video, a sensation on social media. The couple, known for their vibrant chemistry, showcased their signature Amapiano moves in a clip shared on Instagram and TikTok, amassing over 500,000 views in 48 hours.

Chino Kidd, a rising star in Tanzania’s Bongo Flava and Amapiano scene, and Maryem, a talented dancer and choreographer, continue to solidify their status as a dynamic duo in East Africa’s entertainment industry.

The video, filmed in Dar es Salaam’s vibrant Kinondoni district, features the couple dancing to Chino’s unreleased track, tentatively titled “Vibe Zetu”. Dressed in coordinated streetwear, Chino in a red cap and oversized tee and Maryem in a sleek crop top and jeans, they perform intricate moves against a backdrop of local street vendors.

Fans praised their synergy, saying, “Chino and Maryem are Tanzania’s power couple! That chemistry is unmatched.” The clip’s infectious energy has sparked dance challenges across TikTok, boosting Chino’s upcoming EP. Chino Kidd, born Christian Phares Mchili, rose to fame with his 2023 hit “Gibela”, which topped East African charts.

Maryem, a Mombasa-born dancer who relocated to Dar es Salaam after their 2022 marriage, has been a key collaborator, choreographing his music videos and performing alongside him.

Their love story, which began at a 2021 music festival in Zanzibar, has endeared them to fans. “Maryem brings soul to my music,” Chino said in an interview, crediting her for inspiring his creative shift toward Amapiano.

The couple’s latest video comes amid Tanzania’s booming music scene, where artists like Diamond Platnumz and Zuchu dominate. Unlike Platnumz’s polished productions, Chino and Maryem’s raw, street-style content resonates with younger audiences.

This isn’t the first time the couple has gone viral. In June 2025, their dance cover of Zuchu’s “Sukari” at a Dar es Salaam beach party garnered 1 million views, cementing Maryem’s reputation as a choreography trendsetter.

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) recently praised such content for promoting East African culture, contrasting it with controversial Baikoko dance videos. The couple also runs a small dance academy in Sinza, mentoring young talents, which has earned them local goodwill.

In August 2025, rumours of a reality show showcasing their lives surfaced, but Chino refuted them, stating, “Our lives are already transparent on TikTok.” As they prepare for Chino’s EP launch in November, the couple’s latest video has heightened anticipation, proving their influence extends beyond music to cultural trends in Tanzania’s digital age.
