It’s unfortunate that Health PS, Mr. Harry Kimtai, is allegedly collaborating with the KNH CEO to cover up corruption at KNH, according to sources privy to graft at Kenyatta National Hospital.
Recently, the KNH board raised alarms about irregularities in the procurement of the oxygen plant, notifying both the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and the Cabinet Secretary.
Despite purchasing an oxygen plant two years ago, the hospital still buys oxygen, deviating from specified procurement guidelines.
The board suggested suspending CEO Evanson Kamuri due to his involvement in these irregularities.
Before a parliamentary health committee meeting, the CEO allegedly diverted 80 million Kenyan shillings from training and research funds to bribe the national assembly health committee into recommending the KNH board’s disbandment.
This move was due to the board halting the oxygen plant project until the management addressed these irregularities.
Harry Kimutai reportedly received 20 million Kenyan shillings last Wednesday to recommend disbanding the board because they were interfering with hospital operations.
Sources now request that the DCI and EACC investigate the oxygen plant issue, audit the training, and research the hospital’s financial records.
