On Friday, February 10, Ababu Namwamba, the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, announced a number of new jobs. One of them was for Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi, who was then chosen to serve on the new Talanta Hela Council.

Itumbi will spend the following three years serving on the council under the direction of CS Namwamba along with eleven other members. Itumbi has worked closely with President William Ruto for many years.

An announcement in the Gazette on February 10 said that the council was made in response to a request from President William Ruto to help people get better at sports.

Itumbi and the other council members were given a variety of tasks. For example, one of their jobs was to come up with policies for the Talanta Hela Initiative and evaluate how well the set agenda was being carried out.

"Following the Presidential Proclamation on December 12, 2022, of Government plans to revitalize sports and the creative economy through the revolutionary Talanta Hela initiative, the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Arts, and Sports, has established the Talanta Hela Council and its Technical Committees for Sports and the Creatives."

According to the notification, the principal secretary in the department of sports and his colleague in the department of youth affairs will also be among the council's members. Other members of the council include the following:

A veteran journalist Carol Radull was put in charge of the Sports Technical Committee, which was set up to come up with a plan for making money from sports and creating jobs in the field.

Throughout her career, Radull has pushed for change in the sports world. She is known for her dedication to bringing attention to problems that are common in the sports world.

She will be the head of the committee, whose job it is to push for changes in the sports industry and give the government advice on how to improve sports facilities all over the country.

Julius Yego, a star in the sport of javelin in Kenya and the Olympic champion in the event, will serve on the committee with Boniface Ambani, a former football player.

The nomination of Itumbi was one of the most recent star-studded appointments to a variety of government jobs.

Daniel Ndambuki, a well-known comedian, and Catherine Kamau, an accomplished actress, both got jobs in the administration as part of the team working to revive the creative industry.

As part of his initiative to increase employment opportunities, President William Ruto promised to encourage young people's innate abilities at his first address on Jamhuri Day, which took place on December 12, 2022.

The President also said that he wanted to improve sports organizations so that they met international standards. He also hinted that he might submit a plan for Kenya to host a sports competition on a continental scale.
