Kipruto Kirwa

According to governance and political expert Kipruto Arap Kirwa, the Kenya Kwanza government is playing with its authority and may not be able to secure a second term in office.

In an appearance with K24 on Wednesday, Kirwa gave a statement.

He said that Kenyans may not support the Kenya Kwanza government in the 2027 elections if it fails to fulfil many of the pledges it made during the rallies leading up to the 2022 elections.

"Kenya Kwanza is not a government that listens. They are taking a chance of not being re-elected because they are confident in their abilities.

"On the basis that by 2027, Kenyans will find it unbearable if the bets they are taking today do not yield fruits within the shortest amount of time conceivable," Kirwa warned.

According to Kirwa, the expense of life is already intolerable, and if the planned Finance Bill 2023 is passed, much more suffering would result.

In the suggested solution, the Finance Bill, he called the proposed Housing Fund Levy "just an appropriate manner of snatching money from people's pockets."

He did, however, state that he did not agree with Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi's proposal to scrap the whole Finance Bill."We must put it through an established method. We are not yet at the point where we can provide a competing budget, according to Kirwa.

According to him, Kenyans' perspectives would greatly enhance the Finance Bill as it goes through public engagement.

Kirwa encouraged the Kenya Kwanza government to consider Kenyans' opinions before passing the proposed legislation.
