Even though Monday, November 13 is a public holiday, candidates taking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education will still take their exams.
Kenyans celebrate November 13 as a public holiday on Monday, when they plant trees across the nation, according to Interior Chief Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
A notice published in the gazette stated, “The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, exercising the powers conferred by section 3 of the Public Holidays Act, declares Monday, November 13, 2023, a public holiday in which the public shall be engaged in tree growing countrywide.”
This activity is a component of Kenya’s programme to restore the country’s ecosystem and landscape by planting fifteen billion (15) trees.
Examinations scheduled for Monday will still take place, as stated by Francis Gachuri, Head of Communications for the Interior Ministry.
He stated, “Remember that the KCSE papers scheduled for Monday, November 13, 2023, will proceed as usual.”
Exams will begin with practical papers on October 23 and last for the entire month of November, ending at the end of the month.
On Monday, November 6, Form Four applicants nationwide took their theory exams for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
Math Paper 1 and English Paper 2 exams are scheduled for Tuesday for candidates.
English Paper 3 and Chemistry Paper 2 exams will be administered to candidates on November 8.
Testing for Kiswahili Lugha Paper 2 and Kiswahili Insha Paper 1 will take place on Thursday, November 9.
