The loved ones of Father Michael Muriuki are glad that one of their relatives, who was purportedly kidnapped by unidentified individuals, has been recovered.
On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, while paying a visit to his mother’s house in Mau Narok, in Njoro, Nakuru County, Fr. Muriuki vanished.
The sad episode purportedly involved the clergyman being abducted and brought to an unidentified location at approximately 8:00 p.m.
For the whole of Wednesday night, rumors of the father’s kidnapping circulated in an effort to locate him. Officers on patrol shortly before noon discovered Muriuki’s discarded car at a gas station close to the Oleken Hotel.
The cops discovered the man of God alive later that morning, his wrists and legs rope-tied, discarded close to a local roundabout.
He was taken urgently to a neighboring medical center for a medical checkup to ascertain his health state. He has not yet disclosed what happened. Police are looking into what took place in the interim.
“The priest was discovered rope-tied close to the Eveready roundabout. He was taken urgently to the Nakuru Level Five Hospital, where physicians would check him out to see whether everything was well. He does, however, look worn out and traumatized after the experience,” according to Nakuru East Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) chief George Momanyi.
“His car, which was discovered discarded at a gas station next to the Ole Ken Hotel, is in decent shape but appears to have been broken into. On Thursday morning, about one in the morning, the car was found, and then he was discovered to be alive. To determine the facts behind the occurrence, we have opened inquiries,” he added.
