The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has filed a lawsuit in an attempt to reclaim a valuable asset in Nairobi’s central business district that it claims was taken from the Kenya Railways Corporation for 1.6 billion shillings.
The Corporation, on the other hand, has refuted allegations that it destroyed a portion of Bishop Margret Wanjiru’s church on Wednesday, stating that a wall was erected to protect a nearby national security site.
EACC has filed a lawsuit in the Environment and Lands Court, requesting that the court invalidate the illegal titles held by well-known people and private organisations.
Additionally, the court has compelled the parties defending themselves to pay 1.6 billion shillings to the government as reimbursement for over 25 years of illegal land occupation.
A company associated with the late Nicholas Biwot’s family, Rubis Energy, and Maina Ng’ang’a’s Neno Evangelism Centre are allegedly illegally occupying the land at the intersection of the Haile Selassie and Uhuru Highways, which once belonged to the Kenya Railways Corporation.
According to Bishop Wanjiru, a group of armed police officers destroyed a wall on Wednesday that separated her church’s property from Kenya Railways.
