Airtel Kenya has rolled out the new Happy Hour Unlimited Fun bundle priced at only Ksh19 per hour, promising customers truly unlimited social media and zero worries about missing any mbogi stories, memes, plans or gossip ever again.

The aggressively priced hourly pack, launched quietly, gives users unrestricted access to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X and Snapchat with no fair-usage caps or speed throttling. Once the clock hits the hour, the bundle automatically activates for anyone who has purchased it, turning the entire hour into one long, uninterrupted scroll session, perfect for late-night group chats, story reactions, and viral sound challenges.

“Hakuna kukosa story za mbogi tena,” Airtel’s head of data marketing Joyce Kamau told journalists at iHub Nairobi on Tuesday morning. “For just 19 bob you stay plugged in to every joke, every update, every plan in real time. Whether your crew is planning a last-minute kesha, dropping a new meme or arguing about the Premier League at 2 am, you are right there inside the chat.”

Customers can purchase the Happy Hour Unlimited Fun bundle by dialling *544# and selecting option 5, or simply sending “19” to 151 via SMS. The pack auto-renews daily at midnight unless cancelled and works on both 4G and 5G networks across the country.

In a clever bonus move, Airtel also announced that users can now pay for Google Play Store apps, games and in-app purchases directly with Airtel Money. The integration went live yesterday after months of testing, making Airtel the first telco in Kenya to offer seamless carrier billing through Google Pay.

To set it up and pay on the Play Store, customers simply:

1. Open the Play Store app.

2. Tap the Google account icon top right.

3. Select Payments & subscriptions.

4. Tap Payment methods.

5. Choose Add Airtel Money and link their number.

Once linked, any purchase on Google Play is charged straight to the Airtel Money wallet or deducted from airtime, eliminating the need for cards or vouchers.

Competitors felt the heat immediately. Airtel’s aggressive pricing is widely seen as a direct shot across the bow in the ongoing data wars.

Industry analyst Moses Kemibaro of Dotsavvy noted the timing is perfect. “December is when Kenyans live on social media: family groups blowing up, exes sliding into DMs, and office WhatsApp groups planning January contributions. Airtel just gave the youth exactly what they want at a price that feels like pocket change.” For nineteen shillings an hour, Kenyan nights just got a lot louder, funnier and way more connected. Mbogi approved.
