Azimio coalition fall, Karua, Babu Owino declare as new opposition leaders

More ODM legislators, including MPs Caleb Hamisi and Nabii Nabwera, have come out to disown members nominated to President Ruto’s Cabinet, contending the appointments were individualistic actions without party approval, as previously argued by Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, who insisted the party is not in cooperation with the ruling government.

“From today on, I am the chief opposition leader. My goal is to stand up for Kenyans. Many individuals who previously supported the opposition have now aligned themselves with the government, according to E Embakasi MP Babu Owino.

“We hold the belief that Ruto poses a significant threat to our democracy and urge resistance, while also advocating for his removal.

“Ruto’s continuous cannibalisation of political parties goes against the NADCO report,” Jeremiah Kioni, Jubilee Secretary General, said.

Following the nomination of four ODM members to President William Ruto’s cabinet, Martha Karua, the leader of Narc Kenya, declares the imminent collapse of the Azimio La Umoja Coalition, citing internal divisions since the NADCO talks.

Following recent political realignments, Karua says she is now ready to stand with Kenyans as their opposition leader.
