The Gor Mahia football club has asked opposition politician Raila Odinga to postpone his Jacaranda protest so that he can take part in the Mashemeji Derby instead.

They would much rather have Raila there to honor the sporting event.

In a letter dated January 26, 2023 and sent to Raila, the following statement may be found: “We, the Kogalo fraternity, are aware that you have organized a consultation meeting with Wananchi Cum Demo on January 29, 2023.”

The football club announced via the club’s secretary general, Samul Ochola, that the planned rally will take place at the same time as their game versus the AFC Leopards.

“Please be advised that our Mashemeji Derby match against the AFC Leopards will take place at Nyayo Stadium at three o’clock in the afternoon. “On the same day that you will be conducting a meeting to confer with others,” he replied.

As a consequence of this, Gor Mahia FC has pleaded with the leader of the opposition to either consider delaying the event or holding it earlier so that the fans of both teams would have enough time to get to the stadium in time for the derby to take place.

The Azimio la Umoja alliance will hold a demonstration on January 29, 2023, at the Jacaranda grounds, according to Raila’s announcement on Monday.

“Tutakua na mkutano nyingine jumapili ijayo, tarehe ishirini na tisa kule Jacaranda,” he said.
