The Mashemeji derby, which will take place on Sunday at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi and feature long-standing foes AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, will be televised live on K24 television.
At three in the afternoon, the 81st contest between the clubs with the greatest dominance in Kenya will get under way.
The CEO of the Kenyan Premier League, Jack Oguda, confirmed the new situation soon after MediaMax gave permission for the game to be shown live while they waited for the top-flight Serie A later in the evening.
Jack said that it has been confirmed that the event will be shown live on K24. Despite this, the clubs will not see any financial benefit from the rights since they were given away free of charge.
“Getting the KPL back on TV as soon as possible is our primary objective, and K24 has indicated that they are prepared to broadcast the matches for free to the public.”
According to Jack’s explanation, “the Mashemeji Derby is only a beginning point while the discussions continue.”
Since last month, when Supersport terminated its broadcast arrangement with the Kenyan Premier League for violation of the agreement, the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) has been operating in the shadows.
