On Tuesday, a blogger was accused of breaking the law by publishing inaccurate data against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Silvace Adongo Abeta, who was charged and appeared in front of Nairobi Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi, refuted the allegation.
Adongo is accused of posting debatable comments about the DP on his X account, which was once Twitter.
In order to harm the public image of the Deputy President, the suspect allegedly published fabricated and purposeful comments.
On his bond conditions, the court is anticipated to rule.
In another case, Senator Allan Chesang of Trans Nzoia intends to sue blogger Cyprian Nyakundi for libel.
The politician wanted an immediate retraction of remarks he deemed to be “defamatory,” followed by an apology and monetary compensation for damages sustained as a result of the alleged publication.
This occurs at the same time as Senator Chesang and Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor have both threatened legal action against a local publication for publishing a libellous story linking them to controversial claims on Monday, September 11.
Jalang’o and Chesang have both dismissed being connected to the crimes detailed in the aforementioned articles.
“The abovementioned post not only lacks factual support but also damages our client’s reputation and status as a professional in the community.
The demand letter to Nyakundi stated in part, “The preceding goes to establish that you meant to generate an unfavourable and unwanted view about our client and to our client’s disadvantage.
Senator Chasang has promised to take every feasible legal action against the publication and the authors of the aforementioned pieces through his solicitors.
