Kenyans will be charged Sh2,000 for ID replacement and Sh1,000 for initial applications.
The fee for replacing an identity card has been raised from Sh100 to Sh2,000 by the government.
According to a gazette notice issued by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, those applying for their first national ID will be charged Sh1000, a previously free service.
Furthermore, birth certificates will now cost Sh200, up from Sh50 previously.
Those who want to make changes to their ID cards will have to pay Sh1,000, up from Sh300. Those who want identification reports will have to pay Sh1000, up from Sh300.
Civil servant cards will now cost Sh1,000, up from Sh100, and staff badges will cost Sh1,000, up from Sh350.
Late registration of birth certificates is now Sh150, while late registration of death certificates is now Sh500, up from Sh150.
Re-registration of birth certificates will now cost Kenyans Sh1,000, up from Sh90, and changes to both birth and death certificates will now cost Sh1000, up from Sh30.
