Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki declared Paul Mackenzie's church illegal in a gazette notification

The Good News International Ministries of Paul Mackenzie Have Been Proclaimed by Kindiki as an Organised Criminal Organisation.

 On January 31, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki declared Paul Mackenzie’s church illegal in a gazette notification.
 The CS declared the Good News International Ministries, associated with Mackenzie, an organised criminal group.
 The contentious pastor has the only recourse to appeal to the High Court under the 2010 Prevention of Organised Crimes Act in order to overturn the verdict.
 Good News International Ministries, pastored by Paul Mackenzie, is now illegal, according to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki. 
 The Prevention of Organised Crimes Act of 2010 was cited by the Interior CS as the deciding factor.
 “In exercise of the powers conferred by section 22 (i) of the Prevention of Organised Crimes Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares Good News International Ministries to be an organised criminal group for the Act,” Kindiki said.
 According to the law, the Interior CS has the power to declare a group as an organised criminal group if he believes the person or group attempts, aids, abets, counsels, procures or conspires with another to commit an offence.
 Any aggrieved party has the option of contesting the decision through the High Court.
 When the Minister has cause to suspect that a particular group is involved in any organised criminal activity as defined in section 3 of this Act, he has the authority to declare such group an organised criminal group for the purposes of this Act, with the advice of the Commissioner of Police, by notice. 
“The High Court may hear an application from any individual who feels wronged by the Minister’s decision under this section,” the statute state. 
 There have been no official charges against the preacher and his colleagues held for the cult-related murders in Shakahola Forest, despite their 180 days in detention. 
Pastor Paul Mackenzie, who is indicted for cult leadership, will remain in prison indefinitely, according to the Interior CS.

After pleading guilty to making videos without a licence, the contentious preacher was sentenced to one year in prison. 
To deceive his adherents, Mackenzie allegedly utilised the Good News International Ministry church.
