Gibson Gathu, a well-known Vioja Mahakamani actor, has passed away.
Gathu spent years playing a prosecutor in the local entertainment industry on KBC TV.
His passing was announced by KBC in a statement on Thursday.
Gathu made a financial plea to Kenyans in April to have a kidney transplant.
His kidney would be transplanted at the Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret.
Gibson had been controlling his diabetes for more than 20 years, but starting in November 2020, his kidneys deteriorated, necessitating twice-weekly dialysis, according to the appeal.
It claimed that the ailment put a strain on the family’s finances.
