In Githurai, gunmen posing as police officers in plain clothes and military officials killed more than 50 people, leaving over 500 people injured in a move believed to be state-sponsored.
It is not clear why they chose Githurai and some parts of Kahawa, but gunshots had been rampant all night until Wednesday morning.
Some were captured on camera shooting randomly at buildings, while others were seen moving to people’s houses, dragging them out, and shooting the citizens.
According to sources, the ongoing shooting at Githurai 45 may have injured over 500 people.
Sources, however, indicate that alleged officers have shot members of one community in Githurai. Now, with the media barred from accessing the area, they are appealing to people in the area to provide more information.
By Wednesday morning, a few videos were circulating online. LSK sued Defence CS Aden Duale and the National Assembly over the hurried deployment of KDF following anti-Finance Bill protests, urging the court to suspend the decision pending a hearing and determination.
“We had about 15 patients from Githurai who came in at night, and the number kept increasing,” Dr. Benjamin Wabwire, the Acting Director of Surgical Services at Kenyatta National Hospital, stated that the number of patients with these types of injuries yesterday was significant.
