Health CS Mutahi Kagwe orders county governments to advertise vacancies for health workers who are on strike together with Medics planning to strike.
The CS asked over 8,000 unemployed nurses to apply for the vacancies once counties advertise the jobs.
“Wale ambao wako nje ambao wanataka kazi na wanaaka uendelea na kazi wakati huu ndio sasa walete barua zao waajiriwe kazi na hiyo maneno iishie hapo. Lakini sana sana tungependa kuendelea na wale ambao tuko nao tusikizane vizuri tuendelee na kazi. Hiyo ndio ile Krismasi ingekuwa mzuri. Hatutaki mtu kusema mwaka uliopita alikuwa na kazi and then next year you are a statistic for jobless people,” he said.
CS Mutahi addressed the Media on Saturday when escorting the DP William Ruto out of the burial ceremony of the former Cabinet Minister Joseph Nyagah in Mbeere, Embu County.
The health boss added that hiring new Medics will handle the crisis that has shaken the health sector across the country.
He declared that the courts had stopped the strike to allow room for discussions emphasising that the government has continuously engaged union officials over the issues raised.
CS Health stated that as resolutions to the issues are solved, health workers should have gone back to work, especially during the festive season.
He said that as the country goes towards Christmas and a new year, the health sector is a crucial element since a lot of accidents do happen at this time.
“There is need for health facilities to be ready for any eventuality and this can not happen if the workers are not in their stations,” he said.
Health Boss Mutahi Kagwe called on Kenyans to adhere to the ministry protocols and regulations to reduce the risk of getting the virus.
