The leader of the Wiper Democratic Movement party, Kalonzo Musyoka, has just said that he wants to run for president in 2027.
Kalonzo told the Kamba community on November 26 in Ndalani, Machakos County, to get ready for the presidency. He said that nothing would stop him from getting his goal in the 2027 general election.
There is nothing that will prevent Kalonzo from being the next president of Kenya; therefore, the Kamba community has to get up and get ready for 2027, Kalonzo stated.
The co-principal of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya alliance said that due to his backing for ODM leader Raila Odinga in the last three elections, he is certain to get all of the votes from the Luo population.
“Now that the Luo community has begun endorsing Kalonzo for 2027, let’s hope they will honor their commitment to cast their votes for me,” Kalonzo remarked.
According to the head of Wiper, President William Ruto is most at risk from him, and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader is aware of this.
In the next general elections in 2027, Kalonzo said, “President Ruto understands that I am the only challenge to him, and he has accepted that I would be the only formidable rival to him.”
For the sake of the Kamba community, the former vice president said that despite being in the opposition, he would nevertheless provide the president with whatever assistance he may need to carry out his duties.
Despite being in the opposition, he said, “We are also in the government, and we are prepared to work with the Kenya Kwanza administration to advance Ukambani.”
According to him, the development of the Yatta Dam in Machakos should be given first priority since it would benefit the farmers in the three eastern counties. He asked the Kenya Kwanza administration to do this.
Additionally, he requested that President Ruto see to the completion of the Thawa dam project, which had been started by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kalonzo had planned to run for president in the August election, but he suddenly dropped out to support Raila’s bid for the presidency.
Ruto’s invitation to join the Kenya Kwanza Alliance was turned down by the Wiper leader, who believed Azimio had a greater chance of winning the election.
On October 23, while speaking at a church service at AIC Kitui Township in Kitui County, the Head of State said that Kalonzo had declined his offer to collaborate with him after he had won the election in August.
The head of the Wiper party stated that he was happy to be in the opposition when the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party chairman reached out to Kalonzo after the election.
But Ruto said he’d be open to working with Kalonzo again if he decided to alter his mind.
