Italy at WAR with Russia! Demands Putin’s surrender. “If Russia does not agree to our terms, we will force them to surrender,” Italian PM Meloni.
Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni dismissed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s offer of a cease-fire for Ukraine on Saturday as “propaganda” as she wrapped up a Group of Seven meeting that resulted in an agreement for a $50 billion loan to Ukraine.
Meloni said that the loan will come from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and maybe Japan. Europe, the primary owner of the frozen Russian assets used as collateral, is already contributing by helping to identify the guarantee mechanism.
At the start of the two-day annual summit in Puglia, southern Italy, leaders of the G7 countries—Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States—reached the loan agreement.
Meloni responded, “It looks to me more like a propaganda move than a real one,” when asked about Putin’s proposed cease-fire.
The president of Russia declared on Friday that if Kyiv starts removing soldiers from the four areas that Moscow annexed in 2022 and gives up on its aspirations to join NATO, he would “immediately” order a cease-fire in the country and begin negotiations.
“If President Putin’s proposal is that we would be happy to have a peace dialogue if Russia acknowledged the invasion of Ukraine and gave up the controlled parts, it doesn’t appear particularly successful as a proposal,” Meloni said.
