Netizens were shocked when a Kenyan unexpectedly ordered units from Kenya Power before KPLC’s scheduled maintenance period.
When leadership fails to empathise with the plight of its people, it becomes nothing short of a travesty.
Case in point online as recent social media posts by Kenya Power Board Chairperson Joy Mdivo unabashedly flaunting her ability to purchase electricity tokens worth thousands while ordinary Kenyans are grappling with a skyrocketing cost of living.
On Facebook, she was bragging about how her energy metre jammed due to the sheer volume of units she bought.
This brazen display of insensitivity comes just days after Kenya Power announced a disruption to its prepaid token vending system, which left many customers unable to purchase electricity tokens from June 2nd to June 3rd, 2024.
To avoid being in the dark, many households had to rush to purchase tokens in advance.
This is a heavy slap in the face for every Kenyan who has to choose between putting food on the table and keeping the lights on.
