Didmus Barasa, Kimilili MP, has vowed to take the ministry of education to court if it does not reexamine the KCPE results of candidates from the Moi DEB Primary School in Kanduyi, Bungoma County.
His remarks follow the school’s headteacher’s viral video, in which she criticises the ministry’s assessment of the school’s performance.
The headteacher was shown sobbing in a viral video while claiming it was impossible for the students at her school to get the grades they did.
In a Facebook post, the MP said that he had been in touch with the education CS and pleaded with him to request a reassessment of the school’s test scores.
“I enquired with CS Education My dear friend Ezekiel Machogu has requested that the students of Moi DEB Primary School in Bungoma, also known as The Commonwealth, have their KCPE examinations reviewed. “I’ll file a lawsuit if this doesn’t happen in the next 14 days he said.
The MP said that in order for someone to be victimised, suspicions of test irregularities must be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.
He said that since those who administered the examinations got away with it, pupils shouldn’t be treated unfairly.
“Exam cheating cannot be justified by one’s conscience or imagination; it must be shown beyond a reasonable doubt. When students are disciplined but no adult is held accountable in the name of the invigilators, it is ignorance. Na Sio Tafadhali, each counterpart must be presented,” he said.
The top student on the KCPE exams of 2021 got a score of 418, but the top student at the institution got 365 out of 500.
