The Kenya National Union for teachers (KNUT) secretary general Mr Wilson Sossion has endorsed the Bomet governor Isaac Ruto as the Kalenjin (Kipsigis) Kingpin. According to Mr Sossion, the Governor has done a tremendous job in Bomet compared to other governors in the area.
The KNUT secretary general also claimed that anybody who wanted to talk with the Kipsigis, a Kalenjin sub-tribe should first consult the governor before saying anything to the community.
The secretary general held a meeting with Baringo KNUT county executive secretary Joshua Cheptarus following the teachers’ plight as they were desperately seeking for transfer.
About 266 teachers who had fled the clashes and bloody shed in Baringo are demanding to be transferred. The KNUT county boss Cheptarus said,” the bloody happenings in Baringo require counselling so that the teachers could get back to normal physiological.”
The KNUT secretary general woos the teachers to stay calm as they are in talk with the county TSC boss on the way forward. “We have scheduled a meeting to meet all the affected teachers next Monday at Kabarnet town hotel to encourage and counsel them in order to diminish their fear.” Said Cheptarus.
