Malaica, a pregnancy support programme, is facing severe backlash for allegedly disseminating dangerous misinformation to expectant and breastfeeding mothers.
The programme, which touts itself as a haven for expert advice and maternal support, is now a hotbed of controversy.
According to insider reports, Malaica operates 17 groups teeming with hundreds of pregnant women who join with the hope of receiving credible advice and support, but it appears that the so-called experts brought into these platforms are anything but trustworthy.
They are spreading misinformation, putting both expectant and breastfeeding mothers at risk. “Hello Nyakundi. I’d like you to kindly expose a certain pregnancy support programme called Malaica.”
“They have a group where all pregnant mothers are invited to listen to so-called expert advice.”
“Regrettably, the majority of experts on that platform provide false information, endangering numerous expectant and breastfeeding mothers.
“Yesterday at 7:51 PM, I attempted to convey this to them, but regrettably, they responded by accusing me of disrespect.
” Yet those experts are the ones who disrespect moms. They forced me out of the support groups, and now all the moms are protesting.
“Kindly help me tell other moms not to join this group if they know what is best for them.
” Paying subscription fees for medical misinformation is dangerous to maternal health. Please ensure that mothers’ identities and contacts are protected. Malaica has 17 groups.
“The group I was in had 177 people. The protest response after they removed me from the group has been overwhelming.”
