Police officers searching for Mace during the Finance Bill 2024 protest led to the Githurai killings.
Beatrice Elachi, a Dagoretti North Member of Parliament, claims that the police who massacred people in Githurai were looking for the mace.
The MP said the police killed so many people because they had hints that the Mace was taken to Githurai.
“Police massacred the people of Githurai because they were searching for MACE, the parliament.”
“We know that the police shot numerous people, many of whom were nursing gunshot wounds,” Elachi said.
The statements left Kenyan citizens with contradicting information. Speaker Moses Wetangula said the mace was intact. They voted for the military’s deployment to protest.
Papa De la Roma conducted the business of the house after confirming to the nation that the lost mace was phoney. It remains unclear which MACE the protesters took and which one remained in parliament.
