Nairobi Governorship by-election suspended pending a court ruling on Mike Sonko Petition

Labour Court on Monday suspended the upcoming Nairobi gubernatorial by-election pending the resolution of a petition by Mike Sonko questioning his impeachment.
Justice Anthony Mrima suspended the election based on that he cannot allow the by-election to continue because there is an ongoing trial disputing the impeachment of Sonko as the Nairobi governor.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission had set February 18, as the date for Nairobi gubernatorial by-election.
The by-election had already drawn numerous candidates, including Miguna Miguna, Dennis Waweru and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.
