Polycarp Igathe has joined the race for the Nairobi Governor’s seat. He will run on a Jubilee Party ticket against Richard Ngatia, who has also expressed interest.
On Tuesday evening, April 19, he made the revelation in an interview with KTN’s Sophia Wanuna.
The Azimio la Umoja council is likely to support Igathe, and Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi is expected to be his running mate.
The former Nairobi deputy governor has been testing the waters with cryptic billboards across the city bearing the words Nairobi Mwataka Nini?, according to a high-ranking source familiar with the situation.
In 2018, Igathe resigned as Nairobi Deputy Governor, citing issues with his supervisor, former Governor Mike Sonko, at the time.
