Kirinyaga county Police arrest a pastor and 32 congregants at Ngurubani market in Mwea-East for breaking government directives on public gatherings.
Mwea-East Police Commander John Onditi said members of the congregation had earlier opposed being arrested asking for officers to cite a bible verse that prohibits worshippers from gathering.
“These people were in someone’s house, obviously in very squeezed space, this is very wrong and goes against the rules of social distancing,” Onditi noted.
Those who were arrested include nine children who were allowed to go home while 25 adults proceeded to the Wang’uru police station.
