Sources indicate that President William Ruto has Ford Foundation leaders’ phone numbers, given that they dine together and even dress similarly at a few past events.
The Ford Foundation sponsored the Majority Whip and Deputy Majority Leader in the National Assembly for an oversight trip, according to this document from Parliament.
The Ford Foundation assured the media in a statement that it has not sponsored any protests and reminded Ruto that one of their recent sponsorships in Kenya was the Africa Climate Summit, which he proudly hosted last year.
They have also reminded President Ruto that they wined and dined together during his state visit to the U.S. and had some enjoyable times. Darren Walker, president of the Ford Foundation, even attended the White House dinner in honour of President Ruto.
