The leader of Azimio, Raila Odinga, has recently announced that his political coalition is willing to engage in discussions with Kenya Kwanza, another political group in Kenya. According to reports, this decision was made after Raila presided over a parliamentary group meeting for Azimio on Tuesday.

In a statement released to the press, Raila assured the public that the negotiations would be productive and in line with Azimio’s values and objectives. He further stated that the coalition’s parliamentary group had a positive conversation about engaging in talks with Kenya Kwanza and confirmed their commitment to the negotiations.

To ensure that Azimio’s interests are well represented, the coalition has appointed five representatives to lead the negotiations. They include Opiyo Wandayi, the Minority Leader; former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa; Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni; and Malindi MP Amina Mnyanzi. The delegation will be led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who is also a member of the coalition.

Overall, this move by Azimio to engage in talks with Kenya Kwanza is seen as a positive step towards fostering unity and collaboration among various political groups in Kenya. It is hoped that the negotiations will yield positive results that benefit all Kenyans.

The five-person Kenya Kwanza team for the ten-person committee will also be unveiled.

In a statement on Monday, Azimio stated, “Our position remains that no party to these negotiations can claim a right to determine for the other what to raise and what not to raise.”

Olusegun Obasanjo, a former Nigerian president, will assist with the discussions.

The cost of living, the audit of the 2022 elections, the nonpartisan reorganisation of the IEBC, inclusion in national affairs, and respect for political parties by the Constitution are just a few of the topics Azimio has brought up.
