25 truck drivers from Tanzania who tested positive for Covid-19 at the Namanga border have been blocked.

Health CAS Rashid Aman says 23 are Tanzanians, 1 Rwandan and 1 Ugandan.

The number came after testing 1,516 samples.

Dr Aman said they are striving at protecting Kenyans and that is why they were restricted at the entrance.

“Tanzania is a member of EAC, we work together and our role is protecting our people. We will continue to protect Kenyans,” he said.

“We will continue testing people getting into the country. They are also planning to have sampled on their border points. We will also trace the truck drivers from their point of origin.”
