Two more Mombasa county Assembly members arrested today over narcotics business. Mombasa county is the only county with a high number of registered drug users as indicated in the NACADA national statistics.
The arrests follow after Police arrested another member of Mombasa County Assembly on Monday over drug trafficking assertions as the war against narcotics in the coastal region heightened.
The MCA who was arrested on Monday is Mr Ahmed Salama, who is the Bofu Ward representative was arrested hours after attending Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s meeting.
The agenda of the meeting was combating drug menace in the region. Seventeen people were also arrested in the operation aimed at nabbing politicians and businessmen suspected to be behind the narcotics trade.

“The fight against Narcotics is unstoppable. We will arrest all of them. Everybody related to that business will be arrested. It is better if you know you are next just come and talk and help us find more,” said Coast regional administrator John Elungata.
