Members of the WhatsApp group “Murang’a County Politics” invited Grace “City” Nduta, a Kanyenya-ini Ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA), to a meeting in response to a statement she made on the group’s chat.
After a contentious county assembly discussion on the functioning of the Murang’a administration, Nduta got herself into controversy after reportedly attacking those around her for underperforming in their watchdog jobs and having misguided objectives in a post.
“Your MCAs are ineffective. The MCAs did the squeezing, not the other way around,” read a portion of the assertion.
In her remarks to Speaker Johnson Mukuha-led Murang’a County Powers and Privileges Committee following the discussion, Nduta claimed that the majority leader Kibe wa Sarry and his deputy Liz Muthoni tried to harm her.
As she was being questioned by the 10-member committee, she said, “It is on records that Kinyona MCA Liz Mbugua and Kibe wa Sarry made accusations towards me via my mobile device on a contentious day.”
Nduta received accusations of contempt from other MCAs who spoke, who said that her remarks could have caused the public to view their performance negatively.
The MCA was correct to share her opinions, according to Nduta’s supporters who went to the hearing with her, which may result in the revitalization of the failing health sector.
Following the plenary, the committee will convene and announce its decision within 14 days, according to Mukuha.
