What happened to kidero grass? Now the county government wants the city beauty project revived.

Kidero grass project to be relaunched soon.

Nairobi governor Evans Kidero beautification project will be revived this year due to financial constraints. The governor urged that the project will soon embark after the demolishion of the bad state building which is hazardous to the Nairobi residents. The demolition of building started on monday and is estimated to end after three weeks. The buildings affect are from Huruma area, Donholm, Umoja, Githurai and buildings along the Thika Superhighway.

Due to the bad state of the project that was first disturbed by Elnino and the 2016 long rains made the project famiously known “Kidero grass” fail. The grass cost close to 40 million in preparation for Obama and Pope Francis last year. The roads were extremely beauty and appealing as the grass was now at the same level after being trimed off.  The project supervision ended when the city was flooded due to bursted Nairobi river banks. The grass which made the city cute were swept away in some areas by the angry waters. Some roads were rendered inaccessible after the rain. It damaged the tarmac and and now its all upon on the hands of the county government and the national government to build the damaged infrastructure.

The county government is planning to have more area across the city with outskirts to make it more appealing. The county governmnt also is looking forward to check all the tree around the city and cut down the old and extremely big trees which may end up destrying other properties when they fall on thre on. The action willl envolve the city management and several ministries from the national government.

This year the couty government of nairobi through the beatification project called  ‘Kidero Grass’, won the 2016 Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) award. This award brought to attention many organisations which do the same in Nairobi and its environments. It was a really honour to the the governor of Kenyas Capital city.
