Every second Saturday of July, rum enthusiasts from all over the world come together to celebrate the diversity, unique flavours, craftsmanship, and rich history of what has become a versatile and rapidly evolving spirit around the world.
World Rum Day is a day that highlights and supports the richness and history of rums and distilleries across the world.
This year marks the 6th anniversary of the annual World Rum Day, which was founded by spirits writer Paul Jackson in collaboration with rum bars, distilleries, rum brands, and spirits writers around the world.
The history of rum is strongly intertwined with the fabric and traditions of the Caribbean region, and over the years, consumption has increased in many parts of the world, including the African continent and Kenya in particular. Rum is a major category within the distilled spirits industry, and it’s one of the fastest-growing categories.
Captain Morgan, the leading rum in Kenya, is a versatile and rapidly evolving spirit with unique flavours, styles, and innovative production techniques that bartenders can explore and master. The brand offers a combination of bold flavours that consumers can enjoy, enabling them to bring out their spice on every occasion.
“As we celebrate this year’s World Rum Day, we are excited to see the opportunities that exist within the category that will enable us to build cultural relevance and consideration and unleash the spice of the brand in culture. We hope our consumers will enjoy the wide variety of cocktails that they can make from the brand and the rich, smooth, and distinctive taste,” said Davis Changalwa, Brand Manager, Captain Morgan, Kenya Breweries.
