A woman named Joy Nyaboga reportedly tricked and robbed a man at a popular restaurant in Nairobi’s Central Business District.
According to the victim’s account, after meeting at Pepinos along Kimathi Street, a familiar acquaintance demanded the man’s iPhone under the guise of taking selfies.
After gaining his trust, she also asked for his password, claiming she might need it if the phone locked while she was in the washroom.
Moments later, CCTV footage captured her exiting the restaurant with the phone, leaving her jacket behind as a ruse.
The victim quickly found out that she had reset the phone’s security settings using his ID photo from the gallery and taken Ksh 5,000 out of his M-Pesa account.
Reports indicate that Joy has previously participated in such activities.
Law enforcement agencies now urge the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of her.
