Graft hit Kenya Darts officials, refuse to step down after 15 years

The Kenya Darts Association’s saga is transforming into a real-life soap opera, with the officials’ power plays outperforming the darts.

Imagine this: You’re a darts enthusiast in Kenya, dreaming of throwing your darts on an international stage, maybe even at the World Cup. But wait! A group of officials who have been in power for more than 15 years are holding your dreams hostage.

These officials, under the leadership of Wilson Githae, Gerald Kimetu, and Salome Gacheri, are comparable to the ultimate bosses in video games because they simply won’t let you advance to the next level.

Despite cries for elections that would allow Kenyan darts players to join the World Darts Federation, they’ve refused to step down.

Now, here’s where it gets juicy. The players paid KSh 10,000 each for a trip to Egypt, dreaming of throwing darts under the pyramids or something equally epic. But guess what? They lost their money and had to cancel the trip. The players are likely on vacation somewhere they weren’t invited to!

The players are now rallying, demanding transparency and fresh elections. They’re like, “We want to play, not pay for your endless tenure!” They’re even reaching out, saying, “Help us; we’re stuck with these dart dodgers!”

The call for change is loud, but will it be loud enough to make these officials drop their darts and finally step aside? Only time will tell, but for now, the Kenya Darts Federation is more about dodging accountability than hitting bullseyes.
