The police in Mombasa have arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged sodomisation of a 25-year-old blogger known as “Chawa 001.”
Authorities accuse the blogger of ‘insulting’ a high-ranking county official.
It is believed that more than twenty individuals organised and carried out the attack.
According to reports, the criminal act occurred in the Bamburi neighbourhood of Mombasa.
According to James Leli, the county criminal investigation officer, one of the suspects who has been apprehended is a male suspected of carrying out the unlawful assault.
The other two suspects, both of whom are female, are believed to have contributed to committing the crime by luring the blogger to the gang.
The police are currently holding them in custody, and they anticipate arraigning the suspects in court on Monday.
As the authorities continue their hunt for new suspects, investigations are still underway.
Human rights organisations in the area have issued a statement condemning the assault and demanding that law enforcement speed up the investigation in order to ensure that justice is satisfied.
Cruel politicians have been keeping an eye on bloggers because they fear losing the 2027 elections if the public learns about their illegal activities and corruption.
