Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has filed a censure motion against President William Ruto in the Senate, accusing him of failing to protect Kenyans from police brutality and extrajudicial killings, among other charges.
So what has happened in Kenya regarding the impeachment of the Deputy President?
Kibwezi West Member of Parliament has tabled on the floor of the House the notice of motion to impeach the Deputy President following the green light from the National Assembly Speaker indicating the notice is admissible per Article 150 of the Constitution.

The National Assembly Speaker has granted 7 days, starting today Oct 1st, to dispense with the motion.
The mover (Kibwezi West Member of Parliament) will now move a procedural motion to allow the House to debate the motion. The mover will go count by count on the ground for impeachment.
Members of Parliament will then take a vote. The motion requires a 2/3rds majority for it to pass.

If it sails through the House, the Speaker of the National Assembly then notifies the Speaker of the Senate of the developments & submits the evidence adduced.
Once that happens, the move of the motion will be required to appear before the Senate’s Select Committee & will table the evidence afresh.
The Senate’s Select Committee will then consider the evidence tabled & either uphold or dismiss the motion.
Depending on the decision of the Senate, the Speaker then communicates to the President the outcome.
