EACC goes for 40 land registrars over corruption

EACC goes after over 40 land registrars, among them Suzzane Vusha (Nairobi), Sheila Mwai (Eldoret), Erick Nyamu (Nakuru), Monocah Bor (Bomet), Francis Kariuki (Eldoret), and Felix Nyakundi (Thika).

Others include Steve Mokaya (Kwale) and Charles Ngetich (Nairobi), whose involvement in dubious land deals has rocked the Ministry of Lands.

The officials are under investigation for their involvement in various fraudulent transactions, which include the illegal double allocation of land parcels, facilitating tax evasion through the manipulation of stamp duty, and misappropriating private land for personal or financial gain.

Samuel Langat, an officer at the Survey of Kenya (SoK) who has long been associated with irregular land allocations and unexplained wealth, stands out among the accused.

Langat’s involvement in this cartel has positioned him as one of the most powerful and influential players in the corruption scandal.

Their actions, particularly in regions like Nairobi, Nakuru, and Eldoret, have allegedly contributed to large-scale land disputes, with victims ranging from individuals to institutions.
