After helping a woman give birth beside a road, a local primary school teacher in Zimba District in Zambia has received hero status.
Kenny Sikalongwe Kasipa, known for his calm demeanor among his co-workers, found himself in an unexpected medical situation Thursday morning, when, along with 50 passengers in a light truck, he intervened in the labor of an unknown pregnant woman.
Mr. Kasipa reveals that when the expectant mother fell sick and asked the driver to stop the car so she could recover, labour began.

He adds that, upon realizing that no one was willing to help, he decided to disembark from the stationary truck and help the woman deliver a baby boy, much to his relief.
Mr. Sikalongwe confirms that authorities have safely transported the mother and the child, to whom he has given his first name, to Zimba District Hospital.
