Nominated UDA Senator Karen Nyamu contributes to the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
“None of us, especially those from the Kenya Kwanza government, are enjoying these proceedings against the Deputy President, as he has been our leader.”
“I personally have interacted with him on numerous occasions. If you look on the Internet, Mr. Speaker, you will see photos of me dancing with the Deputy President,” Senator Karen Nyamu said.
“To some extent we want to put some blame on the President because we are wondering what he looked at when he picked his running mate.
“In future, I want to call upon presidential candidates to make it a very critical attribute of their running mates to have political maturity,” she added.
On the other hand, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah says the impeachment process against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua must be objective and not merely a matter of numbers.
“I stand here, not to defend a decent man. I stand here to defend the oath I took to defend the Constitution of Kenya.”
“This house should not apply selective justice.”
“It is not a simple case of numbers. The process must comply with the law.”
“Removing someone from office is profound because it prevents them from exercising their right to vote and hold office.”
