The Kenya Defence Force (KDF) officer, George Odhiambo, who was stationed at Mtongwe Naval Base, was found guilty of molesting a girl who was 16 years old in Likoni by a court in Mombasa.
Owino allegedly enticed the victim by offering to pay her school tuition if she became his girlfriend between the dates of July 3, 2020, and November 16, 2020. The court heard this information.
Owino confessed liability for the girl’s pregnancy, but he failed to offer enough assistance thereafter.
The girl testified that they had sexual relations numerous times at her parents’ house when her mother was abroad, which led to the pregnancy.
In his defence, Owino said that he was ignorant of her age and maintained that their relationship was consensual; nevertheless, the court finally decided against his claims and dismissed his case.
The Sexual Offences Act has now resulted in his conviction for the offences of defilement and conducting an indecent act with a minor.
