Okiya Omtatah, Kasmuel McOure among 200 launches ‘Do not pay Tax’ campaign

Kenyans are being urged not to pay taxes, according to plans outlined by activist Kasmuel McOure and Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Omtatah criticised Kenya’s high tax rates and said that certain government officials were taking advantage of levies as a cover to steal from taxpayers.

“We cannot have a leadership that perceives an opening to plunder us when it sees our challenges. We are going to start a campaign against the widespread pilfering of public assets. We want to pursue these robbers.

The senator from Busia said, “It’s a war aimed at the corrupt, not a war on corruption.”

In our nation, pay stubs are used to withhold more than 40% of all taxes. This cannot continue. We want to launch a campaign to prevent Kenyans from making payments. This struggle is far from done, and the Gen Z insurrection was not vanquished.”

Booker Omolo, the head of the People’s Assembly’s National Coordination Committee, echoed his views when he said that social justice organisations would not stand by while President William Ruto leads Kenya to ruin.

“We are a partnership of over 57 social justice organisations and political parties. During the Gen Z demonstrations in Nairobi, the People’s Assembly was founded in the streets.

“Since the Kenya Kwanza administration is incapable of change, we are now taking action to solve the problems facing the Kenyan people,” he said.

Omtatah also commented on the pending impeachment proceedings against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying that President Ruto’s leadership is much more detrimental to Kenya than the alleged transgressions involving the nation’s second-in-command.

“I don’t think it makes sense to release an armed robber while impeaching a pickpocket. Ruto is a bandit who is stealing from us and he is armed.

Omtatah said, “He is an armed robber because he is leading a government of thieves and those who try to complain like the Gen Z are gunned down.”

“Why remove a pickpocket like Gachagua from office and let William Ruto, an armed robber, to murder and steal from Kenyans? As a senator, I will take the law and the facts into consideration while I wait. Conscience firmly established, I will cast my ballot.”

McOure, for his part, blasted the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) launch on Tuesday, claiming that Kenyans will not profit from the medical program.

“The government has killed its citizens, is now sodomising young males, and now it wants to make sure that your health is unavoidable so that we are totally disabled.

“They forcibly moved us; I didn’t migrate, but I got that notification on my phone. We need to comprehend it very well. We must unite and demand accountability from this administration.”
