President William Ruto: I go to church to go to paradise

President William Ruto asserted in a statement on Sunday that his strong religious beliefs should not be associated with politics or his role as the Head of State.

While he was speaking at a church service in Uasin Gishu County, President William Ruto said that he had always been a devout believer, even before he entered politics.

He explained that his regular attendance at church services is just an act of restocking his faith reserves.

He advised his political adversary to refrain from muddying his church visits, hoping to convince him that he is aware of the holiness of the church and that he cannot use the pulpit to engage in political activity.

“Some individuals mistakenly believe that we attend church solely for political purposes. Ruto said that the reason they attend church is because they are Christians, they have faith, and they are planning to get to paradise after all that has happened.

” I beg you to try. Please do not deny us the opportunity to enter paradise simply because we are politicians. Engaging in politics is not a sin; it is only labour. We know when it’s appropriate to discuss politics and solicit votes.”

This situation arises amid criticisms of politicians who have grown accustomed to discussing politics from church pulpits.

In the aftermath of a revolt that occurred among young Kenyans during the months of June and July, politicians took advantage of houses of worship to exhibit extravagant behaviour.

They assaulted their fellow legislators on many occasions, while others used the same venues to push for measures that the government should implement.

Generation Z’s demonstrations forced politicians to temper their rhetoric and even steer clear of the pulpit. Those who had the chance to speak refrained from engaging in politics entirely.

A number of clergy members acknowledged that the outrage changed the course of events in churches and across the nation.
