Auctioneers have entered Senator Karen Nyamu’s nominated residence in Runda’s Graceville Villas due to alleged rent arrears totalling Ksh. 1.25 million.
Reports indicate that they will auction household belongings in order to collect the money.
On November 11, 2024, a court in Nairobi, via the Senior Principal Magistrate of Milimani, A.H. Nyoike, issued an order to the Runda Police Commander, instructing him to make certain that the auctioneers are able to carry out the court order.
According to Senator Nyamu, she and the landlord had an agreement to purchase the home, and they converted a portion of her deposit into payment for the property.
She rejected the charges as malicious. She has pledged to contest the ruling.
According to the records filed with the court, the landlord, James Gichuru Kirubi, first requested an attachment order in the previous year against arrears that amounted to Ksh 385,000 at the time.
During the attachment procedure, Runda Police Commander Rose Ndolo has urged both entities to guarantee peace and order. She has also acknowledged that she has received the court order.
