Embu businessman Jimmy Dubai, alias Dubai Curtains, was abducted today in broad daylight at his Dubai Curtains Hotel, formerly the Philadelphia Hotel in PI Kirinyaga County.
Not long ago, he had been arrested, citing that he offered water during the Gen Z maandamano, and in addition, he financed the malicious damages.
Armed men, likely police officers, reportedly picked up the well-known businessman with influence in Embu and Kirinyaga counties on Wednesday.
According to local sources familiar with the incident, the man is an active citizen who was reportedly involved in nationwide Gen Z-led anti-government protests in June.
Embu County was a hotspot for demonstrations at that time. The officers allege that he financed the Gen Z protest in the region and has close connections with former DP Rigathi Gachagua.
Some of the youths who participated in the protests reportedly received support from the businessman.
His arrest’s connection to the June protests is still unknown.
Reports indicate that they may have transported him to Nairobi for additional questioning.
